Music

As most people do, I have my release - music. I will probably talk about about every day of my life without fail and many people will get bored, but it fascinates me and I learn something new every day.

One thing I have learnt over the past year is to learn to love different Generes. From Pop to Post - Punk, Hardcore to Indie, they all have something exciting and interesting to offer if you bother to look close enough. With many people becoming narrow minded in their opinions, it is important to keep your own thoughts open rather than conforming to an ideal that seems to be popular with those around you. What I have learnt is to draw inspiration from those around me to expand on my musical variety - this makes life less boring and more interesting.

So with exams coming up soon, music is keeping me going. Not only listening to it but also creating it in the band, Slunk Monkey. As I understand, not everyone will like us or agree with us all the time - sometimes we don't even agree with ourselves, at which point we take a step back and correct what is wrong - but what annoys me is people making their opinions explicitly clear behind our backs and then acting completely differently to our faces. This too is narrow minded and hypocritical, and gets on my nerves.

However, that being said, I am really excited about the coming weeks and months, other than the iminant exams, for the pure fact of playing with the four wonderful friends that are my bandmates. When we are playing, I feel happy. It makes me complete. So with some great gigging opertuanties coming up I am very much looking forward to not only entertaining people, but keeping myself content through this form of release. So please check us out: http://www.myspace.com/slunkmonkey

With all this talk of music and work etc, I need to be writing an English essay before I go to Open Mic Night - as is Wednesday tradition these days! Just performing once a week also keeps me going.

Hopefully it will go well... I'm sure I will feedback in my next post.
